blog from http://www.swixl.net continued...

When you go to http://anysoldier.com/WhereToSend/, the soldiers' names are listed to the left of the browser screen. You have to go to the specific date I listed here on each of these soldiers accounts of their situation to see exactly what they are saying and what I left off here. I didn't leave anything of PVT Aponte's entry but I did omit off SPC Shaw's entry.

I'm concerned by their plight and any soldier's plight. No one can say that they don't care about our men and women, in uniform, in harm's way. I can't contribute anything at this time (I may be able to contribute later.), except for my alerting the public, but there is hopefully someone out there who cares to help and does something, anything. I found this one (below) before I found the above entry made (mentioned above by SPC Devin T. Shaw) on June 11th, 2010. I found I couldn't read more until today, June 19th, 2010 and I found this entry from SPC Shaw tonight at 9:30pm.

Prior Blog Entry

I've read many literary articles on the internet, since I got a break recently. One article led me to this one and I felt like I should mention this to the public. May be you can help this military unit. I am not connected to this unit, but I am concerned by their plight. I can't contribute anything at this time (I may be able to contribute later.), except for my alerting the public, but there is hopefully someone out there who cares to help... This entry was found on
anysoldier.com (http://anysoldier.com/WhereToSend/).
Luis R. Aponte entered it on June 12, 2010.

12 Jun 2010:
To whom it may concern,
My name is PVT Aponte, Luis with the 92nd Engineer Battalion stationed in FOB Sharana, Afghanistan. Today my company received a long awaited deployment container. This container was packed 3 months ago back in the US in Ft. Stewart, GA. Unfortunately for us, the container was broken into in Pakistan before reaching us in Afghanistan. $55,000 worth of personal items were stolen out of the container. When we received and opened the container this morning it was bare and empty. Items included winter clothing, office supplies, Xbox's/PS3's, TV's, laptop computers, cameras, pictures, hygeine items, iPods, cd's DVD's and lots of snacks/comfort foods. For some of my fellow soldiers it was all they had for recreation on this deployment. It is difficult to make calls or try and notify anyone about this while we are here. If there are any agencies/organizations who are capable or willing to help out our unit recover even a small portion of their personal items, it would be greatly appreciated if they could lend a helping hand. The 92nd Engineer Battalion HHC ops greatly appreciates your attention. Thank You.

THANK YOU To all your comments...hopefully, the average person does do their homework. Any and all comments are appreciated. If this situation is not as terrible as it written above than I apologize. What if it is exactly what has happened? Those soldiers are going to have a very difficult time doing their duty as specified by the United States Government. No human being deserves a more difficult time, because they are doing their duty in a country less fortunate than ours. If this entry above is accurate, said soldiers will be serving in that country until June/May 2011.

Also, I dig in my pocket and spend money on donations to the less fortunate on things that are not this expensive. What a person decides to spend on others is their own business. I don't advocate spending for the sake of spending. It's okay to be strapped for cash in this recession and in the face of this travesty. I am more concerned in alerting anyone who can help...if only I would find out the people directly involved with helping the soldiers who reached out on anysoldier.com. If someone wanted to do something about this, they could/should.

If the Government organization responsible for this unit isn't aware of this situation, hopefully this blog entry made them aware that they need to check on their people, since this entry above was placed in a public website (that gives the appearance of being on the level). The author of this entry at the top of this blog entry appears to have asked organizations for help. By all means check with this unit's rear detachment and see if help is needed. Yes, we are in a recession and it is always a good thing to do what our conscience tells us to do. My conscience told me to add this blog to this website. If this is a hoax, I will find out, soon, since the American Public has a way of shooting down this kind of alert... If it is not, we all just saved 515 United States Army Soldiers (this Number of People is listed in the entries for whom PVT. Luis R. Aponte/SPC Devin T. Shaw is a contact for) from waiting a LONG time for aid.

I'm wondering if this was packed for them by their unit personnel left behind on Ft. Stewart or a civilian organization. If another package is sent and goes through the same channels in Afganistan the result will be the same.

I dont know about this..id hope people check farther into it than just seeing a soldiers name and opening your heart and wallet to a sob story. Ive been had by scams before so im a lot more weary of what i read to be true. Please investigate into it more before you go any farther. Better to be safe than sorry.

No one can afford anything in this economy and I don't think you should post a blog asking us to dig in our pockets if you are not willing to do the same. Everyone wants to put the burden on someone else. The soldiers families should make sure their loved ones are taken care of by the government.

Well when i send packages to my husband with THAT kind of stuff in it, i insure the box. But my point to this is, I do not mind contributing to something, but for Xbox's and ipods and things, well, thats not really something that people can afford to spend. Be very careful what you fall for. I work at the paper and we get calls to us all the time about placing classified ads for businesses that do not exist and also some using bad or stolen credit card numbers. But just because a soldier's name or unit is on it, please, call that company's rear d and verify that this is true. They wont give out information, but if there might be a soldier or someone using a soldier's name or unit as a fraud, the need to know.

This is a tough one, but even though it is a tough economy I venture to say things sure as hell are actualy "tough" where that Soldier is serving right now. I read the comment about let the goverment take care of it...when did we stop taking care of our own. Verify that the need is legite and step up, I know I am

You know what really ticks me off? Our government can spend Billions of dollars blowing up people but they can't afford to supply our troops with basic needed items such as toiletry supplies!

Talk about a BLATANT, ironic mockery to our soldiers!

Sorry, I would like to do more. This economy has me strapped, as I'm sure with many of us. It gets on my nerve to hear about all the crazy things going on that shouldn't be, and people that have the potential to stop it doesn't. Everything from the shelter & rescue animals in need, to the oil mess not being cleaned up & contained, and soldiers fighting or dying without the support they need. I'm drained!
